The Poem:
Three Steps only Taken by Giants is another of these moral story lessons sort of poems I am making. Using mythology (loosely) along with the deificastion of ideas like 'giants' and 'Heroic Ages' I have created a story of how a resolute narrator climbs up through the 'three steps' of the True Atlas, which are the only three steps accessible at the mountain to humans. As He holds up the sky, Atlas is the cornerstone for how the 'giants' and those giants of humans should behave.
In terms of inspiration, I was very inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, as well as Keeper of the Seven Keys by Helloween. Both have a journey and both of them discuss the sealing away of inner evils, and Purgatorio in the Divine Comedy is all about climbing a Divine mountain.
Behind the scenes:
For lack of a cover design (because it is unneeded) I have just placed a picture of North Yorkshire from the previous poem.
I would enjoy to have some criticism on my first short piece on this site. My end goal is to have a collection of my own poems that I can sell on paper as an anthology.
My inspirations when writing are romantic period authors such as Percy Shelley, and my writing style is actually influenced by some power metal bands, as well as narrators in games and the fantasy genre. I tend to let images unfold that way what you see in your mind's eye should be embedded with the meaning and plot of each piece. Furthermore, I very rarely tend to use conventional structures for poetry such as sonnets because I can find them quite limiting.
