Alison was looking forward to a fun-filled day at the beach. Things didn't go as planned. Located in an area known as the Red Triangle, Alison and her two friends were in the path of one of the ocean's apex predators. From the author of A Salute To My Son, this short story, based on actual events, is a reminder to follow our instincts in situations that we unwittingly get ourselves into. The Red Triangle is an area located off the coast of Northern California, that extends from Bodega Bay to Big Sur to just beyond the Farallon Islands. The area has a very large population of marine mammals, such as elephant seals, harbor seals, sea otters and sea lions, which are favored prey of great white sharks. Over thirty percent of recorded great white shark attacks on humans in the United States have occurred within the Red Triangle.

The average human being spends every second of his day fighting against the force of nature to see another day. But I'm different. I'm not afraid of outside forces to take my life away - only myself. Approximately 10 years ago, something happened to me. Something really bad. But I'm not allowed to talk about it. As a way to release my frustration, I give hell to my body and everyone I come in contact with - especially my parents. No one knows about what happened except the ones who did it...and Him. But he didn't stay. Now, he's back and he's not talking either. I want to stop hurting, I need to stop. Make me stop.
