Anton Skalaski has a good life. He has a home, a family, a steady job selling papers for the Chicago Tribune, and a loyal, tight-knit group of friends. He even has some money saved for the future. 
Amelia Medill is the granddaughter of one of the most powerful men in Chicago: Joseph Medill, owner and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. With a knack for writing and a thirst for the city outside her closed off world, she is not your everyday thirteen year old.
Ordinarily, the two would never meet.
But then the bodies begin to appear.
Emmeline Wilson. Joey McFarland. Then Anton's buddy Harry Nederlander. Something is wrong with the way they just appeared in the Chicago river. But no one believes him. Except Amelia.
Amelia and Anton must join forces and uncover the killer. Because if they don't, the whole future of one very influential man and someone dear to one of them will be fatally decided. 
And it is so easy to hunt in a crowd.

Because he needed one after moving here to Salem Creek. After the interview, the sheriff hires him...Nik...right there on the spot. But not as a single deputy...officer...though. The sheriff hires him...Nik...to be Raven's new partner. Raven finds out about all of this after being called into the sheriff's office. She isn't thrilled, excited or etc. about this...at all...especially, not after what happened to her last partner.
