He has been all summer. But something about his absence just doesn't seem to sit well with her. Or maybe she just misses him. And this is just a mere excuse. 

But she couldn't dwell on this. Not right now. Not when she had made her decision. Of course. Of course, she loved Damon. He was everything she needed him to be, and more, when she had newly turned.

And Stefan and her were just a string that was coming apart. The longer it was stretched it would come close to breaking, but...

Somehow he always managed to tie himself back to her.
