This was what I first wrote down to show what I wanted this story to be like. It may or may not end up an accurate description.
Set a woman in the Gatsby era. Write her into a world of sophisticated people and class with a hint of scandal. Show the side of people we are not so proud of but that we have never been able to hide. Be unapologetic. Make her make mistakes. Show her learn from them and grow. Make her start as a woman on the streets, a prostitute. A young and foolish girl who hides behind makeup and a silver tongue, fooling old men into letting her be their favorite toy. Show her fall, and get back up. Show her shame and humiliation. Make her stubborn enough to persevere. Make her change into a woman with a backbone. Make her be the woman you've always wanted to be. Show that life is ruthless, but make her be the woman who is smart enough to keep going because she has nothing left to lose.

It was a huge surprise when the hot tyrant and the licentious rake announced his marriage. But it was all just the beginning. You were always made fun of for being short and chubby or fat as kids called you. Even though you were extremely smart and got great grades a lot of kids made fun of you saying you were stupid,fat,ugly,worthless etc...All you have is your family. Your family always supports you and tries to make you happy. Your family loves you deeply but other than that you don't exactly have good friends and the guy your with isn't the nicest. You work at a small coffee/tea cafe for a nice woman named Charlotte. You have the evening into night shift. You work 4:45pm-midnight.
