Hugo promises to grant the prince a cure to his illness if he just lets him travel back to his timeline. Double crossing a medieval prince could have disastrous results, especially if that prince is making Hugo fall head over heels.

After camping outside a medieval village, the townspeople suspect him of witchcraft and want him dead. Before he manages to escape, he has a run in with a deathly ill prince named Varian who learns that modern medicine exists and decides to do something risky.

Hugo never really questioned where he came from. He didn't have a reason to. The area he grew up in was riddled with orphans. The people were far too busy to look up who his parents were before they probably died horribly like everyone else in this godforsaken town. Whatever. It didn't matter to him. All that mattered was survival, and then, after escaping the town with Donella, pleasing her. He had a family. It wasn't blood. He was content with that. Which is of course, when it all goes to shit. His religious zealot of a father will only pay for his school and boarding if he can prove he's cleaned up his act, and that includes those 'gay urges' Varian's preacher taught him to pray away. So far, it's going really well, as long as no one reads his search history or sees what happens to his face whenever his new roommate walks into the same room as him.
