With a dead mother and an alcoholic father who refused to pay the bills, she did everything she could to make a life for herself, and she was only 16 years old. The only thing she wanted was to get the hell out of Shermer, Illinois, so for the most part, she stayed out of trouble and kept her grades up as high as she could. Pursuing an art career was her dream, and she was destined to get far in order to obtain it. Andrew Clark was one of those nice-popular stereotypes. He was a friendly face, and quite frankly did not care about who he was or wasn't allowed to associate with. Being an aspiring therapist and future D1 athlete, he craved for his father's approval. Andrew was a kind human being, and he was very susceptive when it came down to the ideals surrounding mental health. His father resented him for that, which made that aspiration so out of reach that he did anything he could to grasp it, even if it involved harming himself in the process. Esther wasn't one for talking about her feelings, but Andrew's genuine persona made it so much easier to do so. A Saturday detention in March of 1984 had turned into a glorified therapy session, and ultimately, they realized how their fellow peers cope, react, and engage, and they simply became more open to emotional sensitivity. Despite what it may seem, everyone has a lot going on deep down, and judging them for it is pointless.
