Before moving to Maile, life was simple. Obey the school rules and you don't get expelled. Don't get expelled and your parents don't send you to live with your Uncle. Don't live with your Uncle and you don't discover your entire maternal family, including your mother, are sorcerers... all except you. 

After moving to Maile, things got a lot more complicated. 

Lacking any magic of my own, I was left with one gift - the ability to see a world hidden from ordinary humans. But there's a reason it is called the Curse of Sight; some things are better left unseen. At first, it was fun. Meddling with ancient legends, uncovering dangerous secrets, developing a crush on a supernatural. However, when things begin to spiral downhill, to the point everything you know and love is in jeopardy, it becomes a matter of life and death.
