This story takes place about half a year after the previous book. The timeline is not parallel to the Marvel one but this is meant to be at the beginning of infinity war.
Natasha takes Alex with her to the Avengers to figure out a way for her to get better after Dreykov had injected her with the mysterious substance in the last book.
