Nagito is a very unstable boy who went to Hopes Peak as the Ultimate luck. He never really got too close to any of his classmates other than Chiaki, Fuyuhiko, and Kazuchi. But he never considered them as friends, scared, they would get hurt by his luck.
Soon, a boy moves into their class the second year. The boy is known for being from the "reserve course." Meaning he has no talent. Nagito doesn't hate these people but find them only as stepping stools for hope like the ultimates, so he had to give them some credit but a reserve course meeting in the same room as a ultimate just pissed him off, making him not like the Reserve course kid.
Soon, he would learn to love the boy with all his heart.

The Ultimates
Hajime Hinata wasn't expecting much when he won the lottery to attend Hope's Peak Academy. The only reason he applied was so he could guarantee scholarship money to go to the same university as his childhood friend Chiaki. Being an average student, he didn't think he would make much of an impact on his classmates or even the school as a whole. However, after returning one of Gundham's Dark Deva's of Destruction, he opened the door to become one of the school's hosts in the café, or Ultimates as they're more well known. When he decides to join the Ultimate Club, he gets to know those working in the café, but there's only one person he wants to get to know better: Nagito Komaeda. Luckily, it seems Nagito wants to get to know him better, too, but Hajime is too afraid to make his move. Hopefully Nagito will be coax his way into Hajime's heart. I Hate The Reserve Course
Hinata always admired Hopes Peak Academy. He always saw it as a place where people with incredible talent deserve to go to. So when Hinata never got a letter for the Main Course, he had no choice but to join the Reserve Course. He still attends the school, so what could even become a problem? Komaeda doesn't see his talent as a real one. He knows that luck isn't something that should be considered an achievement. Nagito Komaeda is a mute boy. He's been mute his entire life, and fins himself to dream of what it would be like to speak, and being envious of those who do speak. Without any parents or legal guardians to adopt him or such, he lives at a hospital near his school. There, he has a few friends. Although, each day, a butterfly tends to come and visit his hospital bedroom window, an odd occurrence, to put it in simplest terms. Alongside this, Hajime Hinata is what people would call a normal boy. His life usually was nothing to write home about, and he was at least able to realize that. He hardly had any friends, the count only being two, and he usually felt a longing. A longing for a more unique and special life, something that would contrast from the rest of it all. As if to grant his simple wish, a butterfly is usual to turn up by his own bedroom window every day, checking up on him like some worried mother. Nagito Komaeda and Hajime Hinata had met, only when they were the young age of five. They were friends for about five years, Hinata was the only friend Komaeda was lucky enough to have back then. But Hinata had to move away once they were around eleven, leaving Komaeda and himself in a deep depression. Hajime accidentally forgets about the other, until they coincidentally meet at Hope's Peak. Hinata still doesn't quite remember the other, but, he feels as though the other is much too familiar, while Nagito remembers him clearly and tries to help Hajime remember.
