Nagito is a very unstable boy who went to Hopes Peak as the Ultimate luck. He never really got too close to any of his classmates other than Chiaki, Fuyuhiko, and Kazuchi. But he never considered them as friends, scared, they would get hurt by his luck.

Soon, a boy moves into their class the second year. The boy is known for being from the "reserve course." Meaning he has no talent. Nagito doesn't hate these people but find them only as stepping stools for hope like the ultimates, so he had to give them some credit  but a reserve course meeting in the same room as a ultimate just pissed him off, making him not like the Reserve course kid.

Soon, he would learn to love the boy with all his heart.

Hajime Hinata wasn't expecting much when he won the lottery to attend Hope's Peak Academy. The only reason he applied was so he could guarantee scholarship money to go to the same university as his childhood friend Chiaki. Being an average student, he didn't think he would make much of an impact on his classmates or even the school as a whole. However, after returning one of Gundham's Dark Deva's of Destruction, he opened the door to become one of the school's hosts in the café, or Ultimates as they're more well known. Nagito Komaeda and Hajime Hinata had met, only when they were the young age of five. They were friends for about five years, Hinata was the only friend Komaeda was lucky enough to have back then. But Hinata had to move away once they were around eleven, leaving Komaeda and himself in a deep depression. Hajime accidentally forgets about the other, until they coincidentally meet at Hope's Peak. Hinata still doesn't quite remember the other, but, he feels as though the other is much too familiar, while Nagito remembers him clearly and tries to help Hajime remember.
