He could be too late and stumble upon Ginny's corpse, he could be greeted by Slytherin's deadly beast, or he could meet the heir of Slytherin- undoubtedly an immensely powerful foe. All in all, he rather expected someone to die.
So he was suitably surprised when he hissed "open" and found himself staring at a man holding out a rose.
