When Harry made it to the Chamber of Secrets, there were a lot of things he was expecting. He could be too late and stumble upon Ginny's corpse, he could be greeted by Slytherin's deadly beast, or he could meet the heir of Slytherin- undoubtedly an immensely powerful foe. All in all, he rather expected someone to die.
So he was suitably surprised when he hissed "open" and found himself staring at a man holding out a rose.
