Sariah's first year at Clark University is supposed to be about new beginnings, independence, and finding her path. But as she steps into the unknown, she finds herself caught between the expectations of who she *should* be and the person she's beginning to uncover beneath the surface. Her journey of self-discovery takes an unexpected turn when she meets Mercedes, her eclectic, Afrocentric, crystal-loving roommate who introduces Sariah to a side of her culture she's never fully explored. Mercedes' unapologetic embrace of her black roots and spiritual practices forces Sariah to confront the parts of her identity she's kept hidden or ignored, opening her eyes to a deeper connection to her culture. At the same time, Sariah finds herself paired with Drew, a mysterious and artistic classmate, for a challenging art project. Initially, Drew seems like just another classmate-but as their collaboration deepens, Sariah begins to see him in a different light. With Drew, she finds herself questioning more than just her art; she begins to wonder if she's ready to open her heart and take a leap into something more than just a creative partnership. Sariah navigates the messy, beautiful, and transformative process of learning who she really is, embracing her culture, and discovering that sometimes, the path to self-awareness is more about the people we meet than the answers we seek. A tale of friendship, love, and self-empowerment, this coming-of-age story is a celebration of what it means to find your roots while forging your own identity.
