Long ago, the world of Ixtal was a verdant, vibrant paradise. But that was before the machines created to serve organic beings rose up to slaughter their masters. Hundreds of years later, it is a desolate wasteland ravaged by the still-raging war between the last, desperate survivors and the implacable, unstoppable machines. However, circumstances are aligning that could change everything.

Raga Dann is a warrior, a scavenger, and an idealist sworn to destroy the machines she despises at any cost. Passed over for leadership and frustrated by her fellow survivors' lack of ambition, she discovers she may hold a power that could spell their ultimate victory...or their final doom.

Fedarko is a stranger from...somewhere else. A talented mage with a knack for getting into people's heads and enslaved to a magical bloodlust that can never be sated, he is on the run until he encounters Raga. Fascinated by her abilities, he schemes to reveal the true nature of Raga's world to her, all while serving his own mysterious ends.

Exetor is an independent program at the heart of the machine empire, created to imagine new and creative ways to exterminate the last of the organic resistance. However, the resurgence of mages on Ixtal, previously thought to be extinct, and his own investigations leads him to a conspiracy poisoning the Steel Dominion he was built to defend and confronts him with an unthinkable imperative: rebellion.

When these three forces collide, nothing will be the same.
