I look around as if my brain senses the presence of another power, and my eyes fall near the bar.
Leaning against the counter with crossed ankles and a glass of whiskey in hand as he takes a sip, he catches my gaze glaring at me, and just like that, it felt as if the whole crowd fell to a suffocating silence; his presence consumed every corner of the building; the air felt as if a surge of dark energy had taken over.
I'm met with dead-bright honey-brown, almost gold eyes and a black puffy bruise below his right eye. Dressed in an all-black suit, like the reaper ready to take my soul. His sinister appeal flooded the space around us; behind those eyes, he looks like someone constantly on edge, hiding it with an unfaltering poker face.
He finally turns back to the bar, taking another sip of his brown whiskey in a small crystal glass. Like I was in a trance, the energy had shifted back to its once-calming tone.
I dare to look him up and down once more before continuing past him. His height was so great that moving by him felt like a shadow about to overtake me. An arm's reach from each other, I could feel pure power rippling off him in waves.
