The night everything changed for her was the night she had lost everything that mattered to her. Without her parents and grandfather to guide her, Clarissa "Clary" Hale needed to learn how to survive on the Ark as an orphan. After being forgotten and rejected by a close family friend, she was put into a group home where she met Atlas Ledger, her best and only friend for years on.
During a later chapter in her life, Clarissa commits an unforgivable crime that brings about her confinement in the skybox at only 15 years old. A prison where she will live out her days turning brainsick until her 18th birthday when she will receive the same fate as her family and be liberated of her insanity.
Nearly two years after her incarceration, Clarissa is merely two weeks away from her death sentence when something drastically changes-One hundred delinquents are chosen to be sent to the ground to test its habitability for the first time in ninety-seven years. A new chance at life and a taste of freedom is all it takes for Clary to risk it all. Confused, scared and a little excited, with a shocking surprise awaiting her, it's up to Clarissa to decide how to go on from there. Do whatever the hell she wants or learn how to survive.

Nothing except a faint outline of the girl I was before I lost everything. The only thing to keep me company is the hum of the generators outside my cell. I was supposed to die, everyone here was supposed to die. That's how things work on the Ark. Any crime is punishable by death, and even with the slight chance that you'll be freed, no one would ever look at you the same. But that was before... Some would say that we were given a second chance. Others said that we were expendable. But nonetheless, we were sent to Earth. 100 of us, sent to a radiation soaked planted, destroyed by nuclear war. They said it'd be another fifty years before anyone could set foot on the planet. Or Aspen Valet had been anticipating for the day she'd turn 18 and the Council would float her for her crimes, only to find herself aboard a dropship with 99 other delinquents heading towards Earth.
