8 year old Annabeth Chase is a runaway. After losing her mom, she left her house feeling like she was no longer loved. Her dad had been heartbroken and seemed to longer care. She was afraid that her dream of a perfect family would never come true, so she was going to make her own.
After weeks of surviving alone, she had almost been ready to give up. Her dad hadn't even made a report to the police, cementing any doubts and hopes that she might have had. Then she met Thalia and Luke, who became her family. They were real. She loved them, and most importantly, they loved her. They say people change, but Annabeth let herself hold onto the hope that the three of them could be the same forever.

Percy Jackson grew up in the town of Manhattan, New York. He was a nobody there. At his school, he had no one but his best friend, Annabeth Chase. They'd been friends since they were in kindergarten, when he stood up for her when a boy told her she was a nerd. Annabeth Chase knew one thing from the moment she became friends with a sea-green-eyed boy named Percy. He meant a lot to her in ways no one understood.
