Abigail had been following the trail for several hours. Hood drawn up over her head to protect her from the savage wind, she continued to trudge along. The only sounds Abigail could hear were the crunch of her feet as they penetrated the layer of snow underneath her, and the faint, disconcerting hum that came from the orb in front.
The key to it all, she was sure, lay in the object she held carefully in her frozen hands. The girl wasn't quite sure how she would use it, but she hoped that its purpose would reveal itself when she reached her destination ...
