As the name implies, intellectual property is everything that you or your employees have come up with for your business. Your intellect - your brain - brings you to life with things that make you stand out from the competition. Employees, workers, and advisors under contract to do so develop original concepts and ideas that become corporate assets.

IP has value, and it belongs to you, so you should protect it. It's a good thing the U.S. government agrees with you and has created laws to prevent others from stealing or using your IP without your permission.
