On the isolated planet of Ipsimla a lone dahmak survives out on his own. He hasn't seen visitors in a long time and his life is rather routine and dull. That is until one day when he finds a young irvagaleni girl half buried under the snow. After taking her in, the girl explains her situation to the dahmak; or rather what she can remember. It turns out she's being hunted by both the Hegemony and the Empire for reasons she is unaware of.

Meanwhile, the crew from Tarilia has been split for two years. Erica is back working a harsh job, her life devastated by the loss of Vex, Jäga is tending to his mother, Ava and Blondie have ceased all contact and Salvo has disappeared off the grid. Will this strange series of events bring them back together? Or will they find themselves at odds with each other after so many days of isolation?

This series contains themes of depression, suicidal behaviour, and abuse. Viewer discretion is advised.

This story is a fanfiction that takes place in the Spectra universe by Mattew Lauth.

❖ Interstellar pilot and ex-adventurer Alex Gallegos must keep their team safe on an icy moon as sentient storms threaten to repeat the tragedy that ended their last career. ❖ Everyone in the United Inhabited Solar Systems (for some reason, UIS for short) knows to stay away from Mahaha. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2021 Shortlister. Standalone sequel (Rocks Can Dance) coming in 2023. Comments and critiques are both welcome and appreciated. Mel had a few goals in life. Nothing too crazy. Finish school, which she did. Continue the fishery with Dad, which she was doing. Someday she would settle down and build a family. Her plan was simple. Her life was simple. Then it was not. Rebels from the Wasteland had threatened the United Regions for months. People said the rebels wanted to find vengeance over their loss from the Rebel Uprising War twenty-five years before. Mel didn't take the threats and warnings of the rebels until she came face to face with one. One night, with her childhood home up in flames she learns new truths about her father. Her simple life dream is burnt to a crisp, which forces Mel to rethink everything. With no other option, Mel joins the Alliance, a specialized military branch of the King's Army. Alongside her mentor, Ben, and her fellow cadets, Mel must navigate a new world and create a new life. A life that would not be simple. Nor a life that Mel wanted. Welcome to the Alliance.
