After the defeat of Pitch Black, the famous Boogeyman, children's lives has been full of never ending happiness. The Sandman was giving children good dreams, full of love and adventure. Santa Claus was busy with christmas, while the Easter Bunny was doing the same for Easter. The Tooth Fairy was picking up kids memories and Jack Frost, the spirit of fun, was spreading random snow days everywhere.
Then, the sightings of new spirits following the Guardians became apparent and things were starting to get interesting. Not to mention, these spirits seem to be helping them with their duties. Who were they and what did they want? Other than the fact that the Guardians have some new, overly excited stalkers to deal with, things were mostly tame.
However, their time of joy and peace came to a sudden stop when Sandy reported that their very rare sightings of nightmares were starting to spread like wildfire. As long as fear exist, so did the nightmares, but never have they appeared in these numbers. Not since Pitch's big defeat. With nightmares returning, that could only mean one thing. The Boogeyman had returned and wanted revenge, right?

The guardians thought they'd gotten rid of Pitch Black, being swept into darkness by his own nightmares. Everyone was in high spirits and decided to throw a party to celebrate. No one bothered to check Pitch's lair to see what'd happened to him. If they had, they would see he'd only been severely weakened. Pitch Black was alone in his dark lair. His nightmares had abandoned him and were turned into daydreams by the Sandman himself. Pitch barely had enough energy to create a small nightmare before it would dissappear. Everyone thought he was gone for good, everyone ALWAYS thinks they've truly gotten rid of fear. So when Pitch felt a huge spike of fear and darkness, he followed it to the source. Eve Hallows, the Spirit of Halloween. She helps the Guardians in stopping Pitch Black while trying to keep the precious belief in children. Along the way, bonds are formed, and feelings develop.
