I check the time, then check it again to make sure I wasn't seeing things,
"are you ready?" Gabby asked me as I looked past her and towards the old wooden door.
"as ready as I'll ever be." I muttered. I pulled the gun out from my left jacket pocket. I had gotten use to carrying a gun.
"Okay, time to nut up or shut up." I looked at her, was this really the right time or place to be quoting Zombieland, in spite of myself I laughed. Then I stood up and walked to the door.
"I'll go and bring him back then we'll get out of here." I whispered. She nodded still she didn't look to sure.
"Gab, don't worry, once we get our of here it will be like none of this happened. We can be a family again." I whispered kneeling down to look her in the eyes.
"What about mom and dad." I sighed. I shook my head and say,
"Their dead to us now." She nodded I could see the tears coming so I pulled her into a long tight hug.
"Keep tight okay?"
"You too, Lanie." I smiled and nodded.
