Guardians Of Paradise: The Soul Hunters Squad

When animals die, they enter in The-Kingdom-In-The-Sky, and become Guardians. Guardians are powerful magical creatures, assigned to a previously dead human called a Handler, and are tasked to protect both the living in The-Kingdom-In-The-Ground and the dead in The-Kingdom-In-The-Sky.

Some Handlers and Guardians are assigned to the SoulHunters squad, a team of animals and their humans who are tasked to hunt down and rehabilitate lost souls, monsters that hurt the living. Because the SoulHunting is the most dangerous task, it is said only the ones with the most bad karma are assigned those missions leaving the SoulHunters with a bad reputation that earns the mockery from all the others.

Pearl is a Guardian dog of the SoulHunters squad, and the only one without a handler. It's not that she doesn't get along with humans, it just seems hard to find her perfect match. The one most compatible with her is strangely obsessed with serving the royal family and not ready to take on the duties of a handler.

But when Pearl mets Megan, a rebellious living human who calls herself "The Black Willow", her concept of "perfect match" and humanity gets turned over by its side. Megan is sassy, mean, on the rebellion team, and the completely opposite to her in every way. There can be no way that she is her match, but Pearl cannot deny she feels a connection to her she cannot explain.
