Calliope is an ambitious practioner whose keen on dismantling the governing power-"the Council"-who she believes killed her grandfather. she's stubborn, sometimes cruel, and avoids people as best she can. as fate would have it, she stumbles upon an unlikely accomplice-infact something she(along with the rest of society) believed to be long extinct-a vampire.

Grier is a empathic vamp who after spending the last 50 years in a box in the ground is enjoying life back on, as opposed to underneath, ground and who would rather spend her days gardening and playing guitar than aiding a prideful and arrogant witch. however, she has her own mystery to solve, she awoke from her eternal sleep with company in her coffin-another skeleton who shared a matching ring with herself. seemingly an important person to her to have been buried with her, however she has no memory of the elusive person. the Council have archives that document not only every death, but every "suspicious"(aka supernatural) death in the country, so surely their records can give her some clues.

the unlikely pair band together to achieve their individual ambitions, with many falling outs and coming together along the way.
