Months have passed since the incident that occured at Hacketts Quarry summer camp. But things haven't gotten any easier for Ryan Erzahler, who has overdue assignments, rising anxiety and having the other counselors moving on with their lives, when Ryan finds he simply cannot get those horrifying images out of his head. But worst of all, Dylan Lenivy; Ryan's summer crush, and now: the boy he is in love with has been in an unresponsive coma for a few months due to immense blood loss in his wrist where Ryan had amputated his hand impulsively due to a deadly infection.
