Declan Becker, an egotistical business man who doesn't have to worry about making ends meets, lives in his own world filled with work, silence, and nobody but himself. Anybody in the city of Chicago could see that he'd much rather be buried in a farcical amount of paperwork than helping out at homeless shelters or donating money to find cures for diseases. He was looking to find ways to expand his business, not some charity case.

But that is until one quite literally runs into him.

A woman with long, black hair, pale skin, and ratty clothes is what he got as his charity case, his charity case that has peaked his interest. Cara, no one but a girl from the streets, so why the sudden change in heart when he decides to take her in? Why was he so curious as to where she came from? Why can't he seem to decipher the truth from the lies in which she tells him? But the real question is why is he all of a sudden feeling something so foreign to him? He tells himself it isn't love, or interest, not even a sexual attraction.

But he too knows that he's lying to himself and that there is some truth in these lies he's told. . .
