Nothing about Evelyn Sherman's life was going to plan. Relationships had failed her. She was raising her sassy 14-year-old daughter Elizabeth on her own while her own mother was in a battle for her life. Just when she thought she was getting a grasp on life, an unlikely confession sent her into a whirlwind once again. She found herself on the way to Glenwood Springs, Colorado in search of a sister she didn't know existed.

As the oldest of five siblings, Damon Mason always felt the weight of the world on his back. He was a quiet observer and often time labeled grumpy and stubborn. Both of those adjectives may have been true, but they were for good reason. He wasn't the type of man that was looking for a relationship, instead, he was content with no strings attached casual hookups. He ended up with the shock of his life when his latest hook-up turned back up with way more strings attached than intended.

Avery wrapped an arm around my waist to catch me before I could get out the door. He pushed me up against the door, trapping me between his body and the door. "What's wrong?" I asked innocently. His face hovered over mine, much closer than I was used to. His gaze didn't leave mine as he spoke. "It would have been different if I had told him from the start. You wanted me to lie for you. You started this. If we tell him what really happened, he would be pissed at me for lying to him." "Stormie, you got a phone call!" Mason yelled up the stairs. The closeness between Avery and me started to make my legs feel like Jell-O, and I couldn't make sense of it. Our breathing became heavier. His eyes trapped mine. "Answer him," Avery murmured. "Uh," I stammered. I cleared my throat. "Be down in a minute!" My voice came out higher than usual. My gaze still couldn't escape Avery's. My heart raced wildly as his chest rose and fell against mine. Avery's gaze flickered to my lips. What's happening? My gaze fell to his mouth, which was moving closer to mine. Stormie West is brave, kind, and young. She has a lot to learn about love, trust, lust, and heartbreak. Stormie's older brother, Mason, is brave, cocky, and a bit of an asshole. He's the wide receiver for the high school football team. Avery Prince is Mason's best friend. Avery has it all, popularity, star quarterback, and girls. "First you captivated me... then you held me captive." Evelyn was like most college-aged girls working a part-time job when she met Caleb, who came in to her life when she wanted him least but needed him most. He captivated her. By the end of summer, she had fallen in love with him. It was then that he wanted her to meet his parents. And that's when everything changed. Caleb was not the man Evelyn thought he was. He came from a secluded village that did things much differently from the rest of society. Isolated in one of the most sparsely populated areas of the country, it was as if they live in their own little world. They were a traditional village for the most part, but there were some aspects that they did much differently than any other, especially in the ways of courtship. It didn't take long for Evelyn to realize one thing: once you were brought home to meet the parents, there was no escape.
