Addison noticed Meredith's fail of an attempt to be inconspicuous while trying to find out more about the sister she didn't know she had so she helped. She should've gone after that but she didn't and it's a good thing she didn't because Meredith needed someone after the encounter with her sister. Unsure of the reason why, Addison was glad it had been her. (GA 2x22 for reference)
