Ava Santiago is living the monotonous 9-5 life of a publisher in her town of Pacific Grove, California. She works in a small office with some other people who were given the same misfortune of working as the arm of Random House, a major publishing company, where in this small beach town all there is to do is, drink, work, and try to forget your miserable existence. However, there is a shift in Ava's grey life when Connor Benson arrives bringing color as their love quickly blooms. Soon, however, a shadow is cast on the couple's happiness when a few of Ava's clients start to go missing causing her to become the main suspect in the case. She teams up with her best friend and tries to clear her name by solving the mystery herself, feeling like she can trust no one but her best friend and husband.
