In most Space Operas, the story is set when humanity has already colonized the stars and we are often left wondering how did everything end up the way it did? But not today, for in Civilization's path we will follow the journey of unique characters as they traverse the small intergalactic baby steps it takes be amongst the stars. In this part one we will meet Ezra Henryson, a 18th century slave from New Jersey who's life will change when he meets a strange orange suited merchant from Africa. Little does he know, the whole world will change with him.

An intelligent entity by the name of Unilife captures the attention of an ancient alien race, who must decide whether or not to make first contact with the human race in order to stop this fast-learning, genocidal entity . . . And after encountering the entity themselves, Humanity must decide between fighting Unilife to the bitter end, or fleeing the Milky Way Galaxy altogether. This short story is a precursor to other writings to come. Essentially, I'm using my experience from writing this as a springboard for future planned projects. Sidenote: this project was originally drafted in Google Docs. For some reason, when copying over to Wattpad, Wattpad converts all the em dashes to regular hyphens. Be on the lookout for that, as it completely slaughters the meaning of certain sentences and phrases which use em dashes.
