After thousands of resets, Chara had grown tired.
Tired of the dust floating in the air.

Tired of seeing the people they cared about die over
and over

And over

And Over

AND OVER AGAIN!

After a fierce conflict, they encountered a certain man whom happens to speak in hands. Coming to an agreement that changed the very fabric of the world.

Chara found themselves back where Frisk fell, and they waited. They waited and waited until somebody fell; it was expected to be Frisk, the real Frisk. But when Chara got up to take a look at them... they realised...

That wasn't Frisk.
