"Today is the beginning of the fourth week of my second year at Riverview High. During the fourth week, sophomores take a field trip to Camp Willow, which is two hours outside our small town of Riverview. Juniors always talk about the rumors of Camp Willow. How the forest is haunted by strange creatures, how ghosts live in the dorm rooms, and how students are never the same after spending two weeks of their field trip there. I don't believe in them, after all, they are just rumors. I seriously doubt that any sort of mythical event can occur in a boring, small town like this one. I've lived here for all sixteen years of my life, and for all sixteen years, I've been dreaming of moving out of here. There's absolutely nothing here other than a few convenience stores, a couple of gas stations, and horses."
Skylar Clark is an average 16-year-old, born and raised in the middle-of-nowhere small town of Riverview. There's not much to do in a small town such as hers, so she found ways to occupy herself. It all began with reading, and Skylar quickly grew obsessed with getting lost in the different worlds that weren't as boring as hers. This caused her creativity to flourish, and she soon began making up her own worlds, finding comfort in writing. When Riverview High announces the annual field trip to Camp Willow, Skylar practically jumps out of her seat. Finally, a free ticket to temporarily leave Riverview. Sure Skylar's excited about new experiences, but she doesn't expect the rumors surrounding the camp to turn out true.
BOOK ONE IN THE WICCAN SERIES
Cyrus Laveau's life had never been perfect, but he always worked with what he was dealt. That included witches, pyromaniacs and human sacrifices.
...
Returning to high school after being suspended for a week, Cyrus's goal was to stay under the radar. The opposite happens when on his first day back, his friend goes missing and the only one who saw the culprit was him. But how do you tell your friend's brother and the sheriff that the kidnapper was a two faced shadow creature with glowing purple eyes?
As expected he immediately tells his best friend, Christian, who is expectantly skeptical until he sees first hand Cyrus's car come to life. Together the two decide to investigate not only what took their friend but a way to get them back. The situation only grows more dire when more bodies begin to pop up around town with the same symbol carved into their foreheads and the creature's attacks becoming more frequent.
Admit the hallucinations, midnight skinny- dipping and breaking and entering, Cyrus discovers parts of himself he wished would have stayed buried. That he is connected to the witches that once helped to create their town over a hundred years ago and has magical powers he never knew about. It was hard enough when everyone looked at him expecting a break down or another car accident, now he had to worry about not hexing someone.
The last time he checked, being a witch was not on his schedule.
