Samuel wants to go to the College of New Light, which is a place where one can learn magic, with his friend Khalsik. The only problem is that humans don't possess magic, if they would want to use it, they would need a patron to give them some of their magic.
While Samuel is trying his best to find a patron, Khalsik is trying to find a way to suppress part of his magic because he has a lot of problems controlling it and is too afraid to go to the college on his own.
