A tale of three countries led by three regents on the island of Egarillion. "Cedric, it is me. I need you to understand that it's not personal." Leilatha whispered as calmly as possible into his ear. The king rolled over to once again face the queen, he squinted his tired eyes trying to make out her dark silhouette. "Do you understand?" she repeated. "Yes, yes, now let me sleep" he mumbled sleepily but couldn't finish the sentence, his eyes widened as he realised what had been done. Leilatha had plunged his silver hunting dagger right through his throat. He tried to scream as he felt his soul drift away from his mortal body but only air and blood seeped out of the wound. He raised his arm in a final attempt to hit her, kill her, make her hurt in any way, but only a second after it was raised it fell to the blood stained mattress with a quiet thud. The king had been slain.

Follow along with Celine as she adventures through the Midlands and see what happens when one impulsive decision changes the life of a simple farm girl making her the focus of bounty hunters and assassins. Sneak peak: "Ssh... They're going to hear you! Be quiet and act like you're sleeping!" he whispered loudly. Celine shut her mouth and moved as far away from him as she possibly could without falling out of the bed. "At the first opportunity he could slit my guts open to get that gem," she thought nervously. She was still holding the dagger so she moved the hand that was holding it to where he could see it. "I'm still armed so don't try anything foolish," she warned him. He looked shocked and a little taken aback. "Like I'm really going to do anything improper with all these soldiers crawling around," he said in irritation. They both fell silent. Then he hastily got up from the bed. "Anyway, you're not my type," he replied angrily. He walked over to the chair and grabbed his cloak and spread it out on the floor in front of the fire to make a pallet. Then he laid down and turned his back on her. Celine ignored him and listened to see if she could hear what was going on below. She could hear the soldiers speaking downstairs in the tavern but couldn't make out what they were saying. It sounded like they were already setting up their headquarters. "Just my luck," she thought. "I don't know how I'm going to get out of this one! The enemy is all around me!" Then she glanced over at Brandon who was still lying by the fire. "Even in this very room!"
