Ten years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Rome awakens to a new threat - Christianity.

When whispers of this strange and growing faith reach the capital, the Emperor appoints Marc Procus, a celebrated Vigilis and master investigator, to uncover its secrets and silence its leaders. Torn from his work on the cold case of Julius Caesar's assassination, Procus is ordered to trace the followers of this Christian movement across the empire - and interrogate anyone connected to it, including Pontius Pilate, the disgraced former governor of Judea.

His mission leads him on a perilous journey across Mare Nostrum - Our Sea - from the alleys of Rome to the islands of Greece, the ports of Asia Minor, and finally, the turbulent streets of Jerusalem. On Crete, Procus meets his first Christian family and is shaken by their humble faith. In Tarsus, his confrontation with Pilate forces him to question everything he believes about justice, loyalty, and Rome itself.

As the empire teeters on the brink of rebellion, Marc's growing sympathy for the Christians marks him as a traitor. Back in Rome, political conspiracies erupt, and his wife and children become pawns in a deadly game of power.

Now, as time runs out, Procus must choose between the empire he swore to serve and the faith that has captured his soul. Can he reach Rome in time to save his family - and himself?

From the author of The Scribe, Paddy, Land of Our Father, Darerca, and The Soaring Spirit comes a sweeping tale of faith, loyalty, and redemption set against the might and madness of imperial Rome.

His irises swirled slowly, an enticing pale silver against his stark black lashes. They illuminated slightly, so quick it was gone in a blink. He broke our eye contact, lifting his head straight. A darkly amused expression appeared. It happened so quickly it seemed like a mask appeared. I blinked myself out of my trance, and turned on my heel to see what was at the receiving end of his humor. Augustus stood there. His face contorted into anger as he took in my ruined dress. His hands shook in his fury. "Roman." Augustus nearly snarled the name. "Have you come to join us, little King? The party was just getting started." So his name was Roman, some big secret. I rolled my eyes at the reveal as well as his taunting sentence. "Davina, what is going on here?" Augustus asked, his eyes full of betrayal. I had never seen him so guarded. I could feel his anger through my bones. His words were careful. What was he talking about? My brows furrowed at the insinuation, "What?" A line of smoke floated around my right shoulder and come between Augustus and I. How convenient. I had the desire to swipe it away but didn't. "What can I say, she...seduced me." Roman purred. His voice was a sensual whisper in my left ear. I subconsciously lifted my shoulder and backed away from it. Not only because he had lost his fucking mind, but also because it shot down my spine, caressing my skin. ** This book contains mature content. Inspired by Greek Roman & European legends, historical army formations, remixed with biblical themes, & an original vision of mine. Come & experience a retelling of the Trojan War in a Christian biblical light manner & POV, while keeping in touch with some of what was written in Homer's Iliad, Odyssey, Virgil's Aeneid, & other ancient writings, changing what was originally there, & adding biblical ideas to the story of the Trojan War. The story follows Priam's desperation for the wife he loves Hecuba to have a child. After hearing about Israel's Conquest of the land of Canaan & rumors spreading about their God amongst the commanders officers, he willingly sets out on a diplomatic mission to bring to the tribes of Israel gifts, going to Kedesh-Naphtali Priam comes into conflict with Sisera a Canaanite commander of 10,000 Canaanites & 900 chariots, meets Barak of Ephraim before he became a commander, & the prophet Deborah who led Israel at the time. The story continues on with the birth of Parizitis(Paris) & how he came to be as a shepherd boy with his guardians Agelaus & Harpru, & his friends Ankenaus, Brutus, Francus, Achates, & Oenone to how he becomes the prince of Troy meeting his half siblings Deiphobus, Troilus, Hectoris, & others. Disclaimer: I do not claim to be an expert in historical characters, peoples, times, places, languages, & settings, nor does this have any historical relevance; I'm just a writer, retelling the story of the Trojan War in a biblical light. It's still a work in progress, so I will continue to write & correct my writing & any errors I made along the way. Until then God bless you all.

He tightly grabs me by my waist and he holds me in place while I still continue to get captivated by whatever it is that is happening here. "Tell me what you see." He commands in a voice that sounds so beautifully smooth and pleasant to listen to. My words are choked up and I can't even begin to explain what lies in those eyes of his. Something about his presence is reeling me in, pulling me more soulfully closer to him, something that i am not even sure is possible but I feel this connection to him, this ancient ancient connection, like I had seen him before, like I had known him for a long time, a life time. And the way he's holding me !!! He feels familiar and yet I don't even know who this man is and it would be crazy if I told him that I've seen a Storm in his eyes, a storm that I had never seen anything like it in my life. It was beautiful and enchanting. Everything that he Is at the moment. "Nothing... I didn't see anything." I lie, as my mind fully gets back to me again, and the storm finally dissappears. He let's go of me and i move to stand on my own. He looks at the features all over my face before he furrows his thick brows, in concern while he continues to stand awfully close to me and gosh he smells so good. A huge strike of lightning echoes outside before immediate rain starts pouring outside. I could have sworn that there was a zero percent chance of rainfall tonight, it was clear and there were no clouds insight, the ocean below the balcony starts to get angry too as the waves get aggressive and the moon looks as vibrant as ever right now. We both look outside before we look at each other again. "Are you sure that you saw nothing ?" He asks and I nod my head at him. "Nothing..."

"And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty, and beauty stayed his hand. And from that day forward, he was as one dead." Carl Denham ***** As Marco and i approach the table, Nick comes up behind us. I walk to my usual place next to Marco. Nick walks to his usual place as well and holds out the chair on his right. "You sit here from now on" he announces for everyone to hear, as he looks at me. "I am fine where i am thank you very much" I respond. I remember very well how last time he didn't want me there because Rhea was here. No thanks. You can save it for her. "I wasnt asking" He says drawing unnecesary attention to us with everyone here. "Well good. Because i'm never sitting there, ever! Isnt that Rhea's chair? You made that very clear last time" i retort. I know am being petty infront of everyone, but i dont care. He started it. I would rather sit on the floor than occupy his "mistress' "chair Nick surprises me by smiling. I expected him to get angry or something, especially that i'm defying him in front of everyone. So now i'm not sure whether to feel relieved or scared. He walks up to me and my eyes widen, What is he up to? I'm already sitting down, but he pulls my chair out effortlessly and pulls me up. I stand up in shook and watch him carry the chair i was occupying next to his. He pulls out the one Rhea occupied and replaces it with the one he just took... "There, you can either sit here or on my lap, those are your only options, its up to you" he says turning to look at me again with a poker face. No expression. Zero. I turn to look at everyone at the table, and they are all looking at me expectantly. I look back at Nick and he is the only other person standing. "Shall i choose for you?" He smirks finally. ***** #1 in Lovers (20/12/2021) #1 in New (24/03/2022) #1 in Passion (15/07/2022) Books by Bellamerce Book 1: Only For You Book 2 :When Stars Align Book 3: Fire On Fire Book 4: Diamond Hearts Book 5: A Crystal Love

His cold eyes moved from my face to all over my white lace dress with a clenched jaw. I felt weak in my knees but I was successful in keeping my brave face. "Nina is that you? You are looking so beautiful" he said while looking at me. I blushed I was still feeling burning holes in my back I gulp down nervously. "Have some drink?" he said while taking a glass from the waiter. "No she is leaving," said the harsh voice next thing I know champagne was all over my dress staining it and making me gasp. Before I could react he gripped my hand & dragged me near the pool area where no one could see us. I snatched my hand away from his tight grip "Why the hell you ruined my dress" I half yelled. "What the fuck you are doing at my party looking like a slut" he yelled angrily while pinning me to the wall. Listening to his words my blood boiled. "Let me guess you came here to ruin my mood by showing your ugly face," he said with an angry smirk letting me know his hate. "Stop giving yourself so much importance. I'm here for your mom. My face may be ugly but ugly souls like you are not even worthy of my life's single second" I said angrily and pushed him away from me but he didn't let me go away. "I can hide my ugly soul beside this face but ugly ducklings like you carry their ugliness which can't even be hidden by beautiful dresses because they stain everything around them with their ugliness" his words were hurting my soul. I won't give him the privilege to see my tears. With all my power I pushed him making him stumble and fall into the pool. "Happy birthday," saying that I tried to walk away with a victory smirk but he didn't let me go. Things he did to me after that still send a shiver down my spine. One thing was clear that day I would never want to see his face again in this life. But I don't know why the hell I am standing in front of him in church wearing a wedding gown. Looking at his victory angry smirk plastered to his face with my glassy eyes.
