Cynical and nihilistic sixteen-year-old Marcie Matthews is perfectly okay with quietly succumbing to her illness. That is, until her fumbling older brother, Marcus, strikes a deal with a shady demon in an attempt to cure her and fix their broken relationship. Marcie goes from bedridden to immortal in mere minutes, much to her dismay. Come to find out, it's against the code to make deals on behalf of other people and now the rest of their family is in danger. With the help of her brother and some new paranormal friends, Marcie learns to navigate the second shot at life she didn't want.
