Long ago the officers of the Nova Corps were respected and feared across the galaxy for their immense strength. The helmets they carried gave them extraordinary powers that allowed them to defend peace and justice across the galaxy.
Years before the Guardians of the Galaxy made their debut as heroes on Xandar, the mad titan Thanos ravaged world after world. In response the nova corps sent an all out attack on Thanos and his army.
As the battle went on, day after day, night after night, the corps was slowly killed off until there was but one survivor. His name was Y/N, the last Nova.

Avengers: Incursion
While on a routine outer space mission, the Squadron Supreme receives a distress signal from earth warning them that the planet is falling prey to what appears to be an incursion. Faced with the possibility of being completely unmade, one of the heroes opens an inter-dimensional gateway and plunges the team through it. This rescues the Squadron from their universe's fate and delivers them to a new universe.
