Pheobe, a young black girl, dreams of becoming an equestrian, but her social class and race make it seem like an impossible feat. Living in inner city London, she feels trapped in a world that has already decided her fate.

But when she befriends a girl she meets at the stables she interns at, Tilly, she is told of a prestigious equestrian sports scholarship at the worlds most elite and exclusive private school, St. Cuthberts College. Against all odds, she is selected out of thousands of applicants and she finds herself in an unfamiliar world of privilege and opportunity.

As she embarks on her equestrian training, Pheobe is confronted with the complexities of race and class that she has never encountered before. Her life is transformed upside down as she is thrown into a world of lavish parties, expensive habits and mansions.

Amidst the pressures of the school, Pheobe finds solace in her love of horses and her growing connection with Laurent, heir apparent to the Belgian Throne.
