In the distant future, Lexia Cass stands out among her classmates. Without the help of popular- and pricy- neuroimplants, Lexia is able to earn top marks in all of her classes. This earns Lexia a place in her nation's capital, Summit, to study under the government's highest achievers. Lexia dreads leaving her brother and sisters behind, but chooses to take on the opportunity in the hopes that it will help her family escape poverty.
Once she arrives in Summit, though, Lexia realizes that her homeland isn't all it's made itself out to be. And as sparks fly between Lexia and the president's son, Geno, she discovers the dark truths of her country.
