The truth of his words rang through my ears like a record player. He did have nothing. The Darkling could lead armies, rule over Ravka, have all the riches in the country, yet he was still alone.

        I struggled to find words. Then, finally I came to my senses. He deserves to be alone, I told myself. He has hurt people. Taken hundreds of lives... 

        If that was all true, then why was there still a dagger twisting in my chest?

A darklina story~How would the story end if the battle at the climax of Seige & Storm between Alina and the Darkling happened at a different place and time-After the Darkling became the reigning king. What would have happened if the Sun Summoner surrendered? Alina Starkov struggles with her feelings towards Aleksander and protecting her country. She is forced into decisions that she did not want to make while at the Grand Palace. The Sun Summoner loses even more control over her life after her marriage to the Darkling. She must gain back control and find a way to save Aleksander's humanity; the lives of innumerous innocent people depend on it. This story is based on the Shadow and Bone trilogy combined with the Netflix show. Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. "I will do anything in my power to protect you, my Dear Alina. Anything."

You're used to it all, the shadows, the bloodshed, the screams, you're always by his side after all. They call him The Darkling, but that's not who he is to you. To you he's everything, you worship even the ground he walks on. He calls and you answer. He orders and you obey. The only use you make of your ability to summon the moon is when he says so. To yourself, your ability is useless but still, he keeps you by his side in case you're needed, and you're almost never needed. This book is based on the shadow and bone season 1 series that I watched on Netflix and I haven't read the books so this one will be different. It's only based on the characters and casts in the series and they aren't mine.
