Ariel is the adopted daughter of Tommy Oliver. She was adopted after her father died in an accident. One day Tommy tells her that her dad got lost in an accident. She starts to think that her dad is dead but he is not dead. One day while fighting Zeltrax Ariel sees something in Zeltrax and dosen't attack. When the others ask about it she tells them that something must have happened to her. After destroying Zeltrax Ariel finds out that her dad is not actually dead, he's still alive. Jason hears her singing a song that he used to sing to her. After that Ariel meets her real dad and decides to go live with him.

Ariel has been a power ranger for as long as she can remember. One day Ariel was helping Jason Lee Scott and Kimberly Hart with something when she gets a call from Tommy saying that the evil space pirate named Divatox has returned. She was afraid that something like that would happen. When Kimberly and Jason got captured Ariel goes behind the other rangers backs to save them but ends up getting captured herself. When Divatox tried to turn them evil Ariel is the only one that wasn't affected because she is still a power ranger. While they were helping Jason and Kimberly to see who their real friends are Jason knocked Ariel into a coma. After they realized who their real friends are Jason and the others escape with Jason carrying Ariel on his back because the temple was going to blow. They get out just as the temple is about to blow. They get back to Angel Grove and some time later Ariel wakes up from the coma. She decides to continue her journey as a power ranger.

Ariel is the leader of a new ranger team she just put together. Ariel got a bad feeling that something wasn't going to be done about the pressure she has been put under lately so she decided to go solo for a while. While going solo the other rangers got captured by Lord Draven. Ariel decided to go look for them when she noticed that they were missing but she couldn't seem to find them. She started to think that she was the only one that survived from her team. She looks for a way to get to the fortress and tried to save them but was only able to save most of them. She goes back to the place where they were and found the ones that she thought that she didn't save and took them back to the headquarters. Then Ariel helped them to improve on their skills and to turn into their mythical creature forms when they needed to. Then she led them in a final battle.

She was always looking for a challenge in her life. One day when the rangers were saving one of their teammates from the nighloks dream world Ariel makes the same portal and tells Jayden to help his best friend. Jayden is not sure about it at first but then he ended up helping his team and best friend. Jayden gets into an argument about him leaving the team with Lauren when she returns and Lauren gets into an argument with Ariel about being the red ranger. They compete against each other to determine who would be the red ranger. Ariel finally becomes the leader after Jayden leaves. Then when the rest of the rangers leave Ariel and her friends become the new team of power rangers.
