Lightning and Thunder

"Something would happen, something so terrible that not even the gods dared to show it to him clearly."

Just as the king's daughter Artemisia finds her first love, she is to be married off. While she fights for the life she wants to live, the priest Lyxes sees in a vision that Artemisia will do something so terrible that the gods will destroy their homeland in a firestorm. When Artemisia needs the help of the gods and Lyxes rejects her, neither suspects that this will start to unrevel the horrors of the vision.

-- Artemisia is the daughter of the king, but unlike other kings, her father must submit to the governors of the Great King. While her father and brother fight for independence, Artemisia longs for a love she will likely never have. The only thing Artemisia knows for sure is that when the war ends, she will marry her brother, and he is unwilling to give her importance at his side. But Artemisia wants more than to stand in the shadow of a king.

-- Lyxes, a priest of the god of war and cousin of the king, hopes for power and wealth should the king fall in war. Every day he consults the gods about his cousin's well-being, but instead of an answer they send him a vision. He must prevent the vision from coming true. But his help comes at a price the king will not be willing to pay.
