"Woo! Another successful steal!" Arnold whooped, as a shard of semi-broken glass sighed. "Arnold, come on. Put that in the treasure room and be back here in ten minutes. Dinner will be ready by then." She said. He nodded. "Alright, 'Boom-Boom.'" He said, using his nickname for Julia. "Well see you in a bit, Albino." She chuckled, focusing on the stove.

I didn't mean to fall in love with my brother's best friend. Kingsley Pierce has been my enemy since he befriended my twin brother in first grade. People across the country started gaining what can only be described as super powers. There are the Generics (like my brother and me) who have heightened senses, strength, flying - basic stuff really. Then, there are the Advanced. The Advanced have unique and powerful abilities - like being able to control spiders or the elements. My brother refuses to acknowledge his powers, instead insisting he can live a normal life. I, on the other hand, partnered with the government to rise up as Tri-City's hero when the last one disappeared only two years ago. Despite being all by myself, I've put away more Advanced supers than I want to count - never losing a fight. My undefeated streak comes to a screeching halt when a new super appears out of nowhere. Crimson Current. He is wreaking havoc on the city with powers I've never seen - powers I can't compete with. So, why am I so twisted up about Kingsley Pierce when I have a hell of a lot more to deal with? I honestly have no idea. But can I just say, I am shocked.

A ghost of a smile crept at the corner of his mouth. His hand latched onto my arm. Panic started to pool out of my nerves. I glanced back and forth between his gloved hand and the concealing hood upon his head. Curiosity never hit me so deeply than it did at that moment, as I wondered who was under the hood. Who it was that I was supposed to trust. "Who are you?" I timidly reached my free hand up to his head, fingers tingling all the while. He didn't try to stop me. There was a brief second when excitement exploded inside me, propelling my hand all the more quicker, millimeters away from touching the black cloth. Ghost grabbed my hand mid-air, his reflexes acting lightning-fast. I started. Drums began to pound in my ears. My heartbeat rose about ten notches. He had his entire hand wrapped around my wrist, and he slowly eased it down until it was parallel with my body. "A villain can choose to reveal his identity, but not knowing is the beauty of mystery," Ghost said lowly, his right hand coming up to push back a loose strand of hair from my face. "Now close your eyes." Reluctantly I shut my eyes, but not because he had commanded the action. It was more out of fear of what was going to happen next.

"Well now you know how it feels when you break a girls heart". I stood up and walked away. Everyone looked at me with awe stricken faces and I twirled my body around putting my hand on my hip. "By the way the names Avery Blue" I spoke loudly. Flashes of recognition crossed people's faces but Chase was the most shocked of them all. I stared at Chase straight in the eyes. The Lucky Girl soon found herself marked as the most wanted heroine from the villainous underworld after stealing stratagems and ploys inside Cadmus before Independence Day. The Council of Light wants her dead, so she faked her death by falling in Hedare Beauty's drain pipe that was activated and let the water take her away to the nearest dock.
