Athena Horvath, Dale Horvath's daughter, was named after the Goddess of wisdom and war for a reason. She grew up protective over her compassionate and loving father, when the zombie apocalypse hit...she took her protectiveness to a whole new level. Her father always told her to keep close to their small group so they would protect her, but she knew she had to keep her father at the number one spot on her protecting list. If she got really close to the others, she was worried there would be a scenario where she would have to choose who to save...which was very likely.

Daryl Dixon only cared about protecting his brother. He was also not letting himself get attached to others in the group...for different reasons of course. His intentions were to loot the group and leave, when he met Athena..he knew it was not going to work out, but his brother was still ready to try. Daryl also just did not let himself get close to anyone, he was more of a lone wolf.

Daryl admired Athena, even though he would never say it. He admired how much she could protect not only her father, but herself. Athena admired Daryl because she could see right through his tough exterior.
