Serena Abruzzo is a former ICU nurse with a troubled past. Now she fights to survive in what's left of the world after flesh-eating zombies have taken over. After escaping the destruction of the city of Atlanta, she has taken on a "must stay alive" mindset and spends her days trying not to die. She's a survivor. A fighter. A warrior. She's also alone. It's been months since she last seen a living person, until a some strangers appear and welcome her into their group.

She never expected to be treated with such kindness by living people in this post-apocalyptic world. She especially didn't expect to fall for a redneck biker with a crossbow, who is just as hardened as she is. In many ways they are opposites, but they are also both broken. Both toughed through pain and hardships. Together they form a strong bond. They start off as enemies but eventually become friends, but soon realize that isn't enough. They eventually find out they are more alike than they first thought. Will they form a tight bond, or will their similarities and the flesh eating zombies push them apart?
