Hyacinth Sinclair wanted to live her life without expectations. A simple thing to wish for yet so out of reach, especially if she has an ability that no one ought to waste just to have an ordinary, unpredictable life.
Her ability to read the threads of fate is either a gift or a curse. She considered it a curse to have the ability because reading the future means that she can prevent certain things from happening, thus altering the course of fate. Hyacinth knew from experience that altering fate is shortly followed by an unforeseen consequence, so she never interfered again.
Until she accidentally altered fate because of an impulse to save a life, causing Hyacinth's thread to be entangled with someone. That someone, unfortunately, is Maximillian Bismarck: A powerful man in Sutton City who will do everything and will stop at nothing to get whatever he wants.
