a boy was only 3 years old when his mom left, and instead of being raised with love and care, he gets neglected and mistreated by his dad, both at home and in school. and because of this, he becomes mute for a very long time. what will happen as he gets into school and meets new people?

Astren City, and all surrounding area, have the highest crime rate in the northern part of the country. Dozens of crime families constantly trying to take the throne, as well as corruption lurking around every corner, do not aid in that fact at all. Salem Heart's father, Jack Heart, happens to be the Astren City Chief of Police, a title which holds a lot of weight and a rank that claims even more power. He's well respected, and amazing at his job. That said, greatness is expected of Salem as well. Of course that isn't a problem, Salem will always be loyal to the law. He was raised by it, and upholding it is his future career aspiration. He thinks he has his life figured out. The fact that his ex-boyfriend comes from a notorious crime family, and has been arrested several times by Jack's own department, doesn't matter. Salem's passed that, he's over Atlas Marino and he always will be. He will ignore that scratch in his record, and cover it up with his success. Salem is offered a job to help with an investigation that could benefit his future career astronomically. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand. He likes the order, and he craves the accomplishment of defeating bad with good. It's all black and white. Until he gets caught in the grey. "I think I'm gay." I say, leaving out the part about my... exposing dream about him last night. I watched his expression, waiting for some sign that he was angry. I waited for him to call me a faggot, to curse me off and tell me he never wanted to see me again. Instead, I was greeted with his perfect toothy smile. "That's great man, I'm of proud you." He says, patting my arm as he stuffed another cracker in his mouth. "It takes some real balls to come out to someone." He says, his beautiful green eyes blazing into mine. I felt myself become flustered at his gaze. "Uh, Yeah, Thanks." I stumbled out, "You're not mad?" I ask. His expression turns to hurt as he crinkles his eyebrows. "Why the hell would I be mad?" He asks, hesitating on the crackers and pushing them away. "I just thought-it's just- well... you just always seem so pissed when someone mentions the word gay." I spit out words, scared for his reaction. He sighs, "That doesn't fucking mean I hate gays. Normally when I do that it's because someone's using the word 'gay' to hate on them, it just pisses me off, you know?" He asks, bringing the crackers back into his lap and biting into them. "Plus-" He adds on, "You're my best friend, if anything, you being gay is a blessing. I'll always support you." He says, glancing at me through the side of his eyes. I look away, towards the door to hide the crimson blush that I feel spread over my face. "Thanks." I all but squeak out. Before you read the description of my book, I want to give a few quick disclaimers. The first one is that most of the chapters aren't very long, so the 60 chapters isn't as intimidating to read as it may seem. Second, my story does include the following things that some people may be uncomfortable reading. Cursing/Swearing. Violence, Sex Jokes, Homophobia, And child abuse. Specifically, Name calling, a few things thrown at the child, and scenes with violance against teens)I would give examples directly from the book that would make more sense, but I don't want to give any spoilers for future. I also wanted to say that there isn't anything like sex scenes or suicide, but this isn't for kids either. I won't be using the mature rating because it is not directly made for adults, or young kids. Again, it all depends on what you are aloud to read, or what you are comfortable with reading.
