Mary Popplewell's friends don't understand her Mary Poppins obsession, they think it's a huge joke. When they hear she's going on her long-awaited OE they dare her to go and find Cherry Tree Lane whilst dressed as Mary Poppins. Mary doesn't expect Cherry Tree Lane to look like the Edwardian version of the Travers' novel and she's right, it's not in urban London at all but in a small village in Oxfordshire. Neither does she expect to find a Nanny missing and a family in desperate need for a new one. Can Mary learn the Nanny trade in a hurry? More importantly can she find out what happened to the missing Nanny?

The sunlight burned. That's the first thing she thought when the metal bin finally opened its top to let her out. The next was where the hell was she, and how exactly did she get in this place to begin with?
