In a world where about 1 in 100 people have powers, the world has turned to absolute chaos. There is no official organization to help people gain control of their abilities, meaning people are arrested for crimes they didn't mean to commit. The majority of parents are scared of their children when they're born with powers, so they're often sent away for adoption. The large increase in numbers is too much for orphanage caretakers to handle so hardly any children with abilities receive a proper upraising.
All these problems have led to a high increase in the world's overall crime rate, and now most people are against people with powers, believing that they should be segregated. A small group- with and without powers- is trying to make things right, but they simply aren't influential enough to affect the world's overall opinions.
Thankfully, there is hope. There is one person who is truly powerful, stronger than anyone else. That person just may be the only one who can save the world and restore peace; the only one who is powerful enough to stop the criminals who misuse their powers, and the only one who can make people see that powers can be a good thing.
There's just one problem, that person is Carla Rogers--the most introverted, monotone, odd person who has little to no social skills. She's 26 years old, living in a strange old lady's basement. By day, she creates and anonymously sells absurd works of art; at night, she's a talented gamer. (When I say "talented gamer," I mean she enjoys creaming 12-year-olds on Roblox.)
Will this introverted weirdo be able to make a difference in the world? Does she even want to? You'd better read my book and find out!

"Stop pretending to be an idiot, idiot." Ouch. It burns. "You're starting to sound like a dear old friend of mine," she adds, her tone implying that her "friend" isn't so much of a "friend" as a mortal enemy who she probably also dragged into an alley on multiple occasions. Because she must be a fan of alley-dragging. Theater major. "I bet that friend was super amazing," I retort anyway. "She'd have to be to put up with you." Oh! Snap! I grin like an idiot at my own joke, realize how uncool that is, and then quickly rearrange my face into a frown. "I'm sorry. I don't quite understand. You're supposed to be a superhero, so why are you threatening a fellow superhero? Isn't that kind of against our code or whatever?" "You don't have a code. Superheroes who follow codes don't drop off information about people's allegedly dead sons at their doorsteps and then run." Well, can't say she doesn't have a point there. -- After being framed for the horrific murder of Birchwood City's most revered superhero's six year-old son, Maya Waterman abandons her super-villain persona and finds herself lost without any sense of identity and purpose. Being hunted by a vengeful super is hard enough, but after her employer fires her and she's evicted from her apartment, Maya begins to become something she had prayed she would never become again- helpless. She needs nothing less than a miracle to save herself, and much to her surprise, she gets just that-- even if it entails her trying her hand at becoming a good guy for once.

"Does it hurt to die?" she whispered to me. I thought long and hard about my response. Finally, when the correct words formed in my mouth, I said: "Yeah, but it hurts more to keep living." Welcome to my world. ~~~~~ It was a perfect life. A big, beautiful house in the richer part of town. Two loving, happy parents. A dog that was potty trained and seemed to know when to be so cute and cuddly. A school filled with only the smartest students and most professional teachers. Friends who would never do any harm to anyone. Money coming easily and the weather always staying nice. It was the perfect life. Anything anyone could have wanted. Avaley Camber lived this perfect life. Lived. Thing is, when you die, you are not supposed to come back to life. But the Creator has something special in mind for Avaley Camber. Something far more greater than staying dead forever. It's a second chance. Avaley didn't necessarily want to come back from the dead, but if it's better than being in a coffin all her life it's something she says yes to. What she doesn't know, however, is the other parts that come with coming back to life. And Avaley realizes that she's going to need her whole life to get used to the new parts. As Avaley starts to relive her life again, she's faced with new challenges and new changes in her life. Her life that seemed so perfect has its own flaws. New things keep popping up in front of Avaley, and it's up to her to work her way through them. With the help of her new powers, that is.

"If you could control ONE thing in the entire world, and people would pursue you, what would do?" -UNKNOWN TO US These words will mean a lot to a group of 10-year olds. These children, of different backgrounds, all have one thing in common: They all are direct descendants of the great Jean Persuary. Jean was well known for being the best alchemist of his time, being said to have cracked the genome before it was even called DNA, discovering the meaning of how elements react with one another, and said to have created a formula for immortality. But, his greatest achievement, were tiny necklaces that were said to give the wielder full control over an element and allowed them to turn into, create, and are immune to the element that was shown on the pendant. However, there's a catch: Only the first born can wield these powerful amulets. And they're said to not exist in this world, due to the fact that he was killed before he could give them to his children. And there's the fact that these were the main target of The Hunters, a group of people who kill those who were way ahead of their time. These children must channel this power very carefully, or else it will take over them and their bodies, thus leading to the end of the world as we know it. Can these orphans learn to control their emotions and power before it consumes them? These children must realize that they too, will be Hunted Down. Copyrights belong to me, @soniczurcx, 2016.
