Niklaus Mikaelson has been a vampire for 1000 years with short list of goals:

- become a hybrid
- create a hybrid army
- continue being the most powerful creature to ever live
- hopefully find a mate

In his 1000 years on Earth he has discovered werewolves are gifted with soulmate, a person to love forever. At first Niklaus was weary as a person to love means a person to lose, after a few centuries he realised a mate would bring something he's always wanted, loyalty. He would never be alone again, but after 1000 years he gave up hope of ever finding them.

Timothy Lockwood, Tyler Lockwood's quiet, sassy twin brother. With a smaller frame and quiet presence he gets forgotten about a lot by his 'friends' and brother, which is perfect because they don't know he's a werewolf or that he's gay.

What will Nik do when he finds himself strangely pulled towards the quiet werewolf who always has his nose in a book.
