The emperor had requested Princess Tama to bring a suitor from the bloodline to enable her ascend the throne. She had confided in her friend that her suitor will not be from the royal bloodline. 
She consulted a local Shinto priest who told her that her husband's name was Fuji and that he resides in the United States. 
The emperor sent emissaries to the United States, Fuji was eventually found and invited to Japan. Princess Tama and Fuji met; it was love at first sight.
